I am motivated by my own experiences as well as universally recognised tropes and themes regarding women. My images explore perceived female identity and attempt to empower through image-making.

In both private and public spaces, I use photography and film to record my body, or stand-ins for my body. I perform with found objects and constructed props, adopting poses and behaviours which appear ritualistic, symbolic or as one-sided confrontations.

I work with instant cameras, basic smart phones and rudimentary video-editing software to reflect the technology I grew up with; as a millennial, I hope to re-present, unpick and challenge societal norms and expectations that governed the experiences of my formative years.

My process is cathartic and attempts to re-write personal experiences through blunt parody. I constantly imagine ways that I can embody and record concurrent sensations, like anger/verve, despair/desire, fear/control; the contradictions we feel just by being.
